HAMMERFALL Outline Recording Schedule For Fourth CD
April 9, 2002Sweden's HAMMERFALL are scheduled to enter Holland's Wisseloord studios with producer Charlie Bauernfeind (i.e. BLIND GUARDIAN, GAMMA RAY, RAGE) in early May to begin recording their as-yet-untitled fourth full-length album for a late 2002 release through Nuclear Blast Records. According to guitarist Oscar Dronjak, we will record the drums in Holland, bass in Germany and the rest in Spain. The reason for this is that we wanted to use a classic and therefore vastly expensive recording studio in Holland that has hosted such high profile acts as QUEENSRCHE, DEF LEPPARD, RAMMSTEIN, THE SCORPIONS, U2, IRON MAIDEN, SAXON, STING, METALLICA and JUDAS PRIEST, just to name a few.
Doing the drums at Wisseloord will give the recordings a solid foundation to build upon. A few days in BLIND GUARDIAN's Twilight Studios is next, mostly because its convenience and familiarity to Charlie and its closeness to Wisseloord. [HAMMERFALL bassist] Magnus [Rosen] will do his work here, which, knowing Magnus, won't take more than a couple of days.
When the groundwork for the recording is laid down, we'll go home and rest for a few days before boarding a plane to Tenerife (!) and yet another studio. This, the final stop for the recording, is [HELLOWEEN singer] Andy Deris' studio Mi Sueno, which Charlie also is very familiar with.
The recording studios were all chosen carefully by Charlie, and we trust him with making the best decisions for this production. After all, the most important thing is the songs and the persons working on an album - and the atmosphere created together not what equipment or locations are being used. And I, for one, certainly don't have a problem with spending two months on Tenerife in May and June? -)
